- 240 minutes (4 hours) to complete the exam
- Two optional 10-minute breaks

- No penalty for wrong answers, always answer every question

Domain breakdown in 2026
The July 2026 Examination Content Outline rebalanced all three domains. Compared with the prior outline, People moved from 42% to 33%, Process from 50% to 41%, and Business Environment from 8% to 26%.

PMP exam eligibility requirements in 2026
PMI now lists four education-and-experience pathways. All qualifying project experience must have been gained within the previous 10 years:
- High school or secondary credential: 60 months of project leadership experience
- Associate degree or qualifying vocational credential: 48 months of project leadership experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher: 36 months of project leadership experience
- GAC-accredited bachelor's or postgraduate degree: 24 months of project leadership experience
Candidates also need 35 hours of project-management education or an active CAPM certification. Training-provider rules for live classes change on December 1, 2026, so verify the current rule with PMI before enrolling.
