PMP Certification in the UAE: Cost, Eligibility and Exam Booking (2026)
Earning the PMP from the UAE works the same way as anywhere else: you apply to PMI, pay in US dollars, and sit the exam with Pearson VUE at a test center or online. What differs is the cost in dirhams, where and when you can book, and the local support around you. This guide covers those UAE specifics.

How much does the PMP cost in AED?
PMI charges in US dollars. Because the dirham is pegged at 3.6725 to the dollar, the AED amounts below stay stable; your bank's card rate and any foreign-transaction fee can add a little on top.
| Cost item | With PMI membership | Without membership |
|---|---|---|
| PMI annual membership | $164 (about AED 602) | Not needed |
| PMP exam fee | $405 (about AED 1,487) | $655 (about AED 2,405) |
| Total first-time cost | $569 (about AED 2,090) | $655 (about AED 2,405) |
Fees as listed by PMI (US pricing) and on our PMP exam cost guide. PMI decides any local tax at checkout, so confirm the final amount before you pay.
Joining PMI first is cheaper than paying the non-member fee: membership plus the member exam fee saves about $86 (around AED 316), and membership includes digital access to PMI standards.
Booking the exam from the UAE
- Test center: most Pearson VUE centers are in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Weekend seats can fill up, so book two to three weeks ahead. Use the Pearson VUE PMI page to see current centers and times.
- Online (OnVUE): take the exam from home or the office. You need a private room, a webcam, a stable connection and a clear desk. It is the easiest option if you live in the northern emirates.
- Working week: the UAE government week runs Monday to Friday, with a short Friday. Many candidates choose a Saturday slot so the exam does not cost a working day.
- Ramadan: test-center hours are often shorter during Ramadan. If your target date falls in that month, book early or choose an online slot.
Taking the exam with Arabic support
The PMP exam is written in English, but PMI offers language aids that show a translation alongside the English text, and Arabic is one of them. You request the aid when you schedule. If you studied in English, most candidates find the English text alone faster to read under time pressure.
Eligibility
You need 35 hours of project management education plus 36 months of experience leading projects with a four-year degree, or 60 months with a secondary degree. An active CAPM also covers the 35-hour education requirement. See our PMP exam requirements guide for how PMI checks experience during the audit.
Local community
The PMI UAE Chapter runs events and study groups that also count toward PDUs once you are certified. You can add chapter membership to your PMI membership on the PMI UAE Chapter page.
A study rhythm that fits a UAE work week
Most working candidates in the UAE prepare over 8 to 12 weeks: short weekday sessions of 45 to 60 minutes on one topic, and a longer weekend block for timed practice. Our PMP exam prep guide has full 4, 8 and 12-week plans. Before booking, take at least two full 180-question mock exams and drill your weakest areas with the topic guides.
